How to be cleared as a PIL Coach
Complete Online Application You will then click on the jobs tab, hit all jobs. ALL NEW JV, JV2, Var Assistant and Middle School Coaches need to apply to the, High School Assistant/Middle School Coach – Job # 27513. You will then create an account. This would also apply to coaches that are returning after a leave.
This must be done prior to submitting your criminal history form and PIL scheduling an appointment on your behalf.
- Athletic Director informs District Office of a potential hire
- After DAO is informed an email will be sent to the potential new hire with the next steps.
- Complete online certifications and classes listed and give certificates to your Athletic Director
All Coaches (Paid or Volunteer) are required to attend the Coaches meeting for their season:
Fall 2025 – TBD
Winter 2025 – TBD
Spring 2026 – TBD
All coaches for a team, paid or volunteer, must be cleared prior to practice starting.
Paid coaches must complete all OSAA/PPS required trainings before pay is to begin.

Background Check (new coaches or coaches that are returning after moving out of state) Fingerprinting – need to make an appointment online through Field Print. Enter the following information when scheduling – PPS Field Print ID – FPPORTLANDSD1JNET This must be paid in advance using School Pay –Click Here Criminal History Verification Form
| Volunteer Background Check – needs to be done every 3 years *This includes PPS Mandatory Trainings for Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting and Adult Sexual Misconduct Trainings.

HR Paperwork and Electronic I-9 (new coaches or coaches that are returning after a leave) – please print and complete the following forms:

Complete the Education Provider Information Google Form Per Oregon House Bill 2062, we are required to reach out to the last 3 “Education Providers” you have been employed with – this includes school districts, education service districts, or any program that provides educational services to K-12 students. The education provider must complete a reference form indicating whether or not a PPS applicant has been involved in any misconduct while working for other education providers. If you have not been employed with an Education Provider (as defined above), you do not need to complete this form and you may disregard this. Additionally, please note that you do not provide Education Provider forms for any volunteer/unpaid experience, including Student Teaching.
